ROMERO POLO, IN CHARGE OF CONSERVATION OPERATIONS FOR THE CATALAN TUNNELS
Romero Polo, through the “UTE Túnels i CCVC”, a joint venture formed together with the companies Acisa and Elecnor, will carry out the integral conservation operations of the tunnels and complementary roads managed by the Road Control Center of Catalonia (CCVC). It will also be in charge of its systems, programming and machinery. The contract will start at the end of April and has a duration of 48 months, with a 12-month extension.
The scope of this project is spread throughout Catalonia. The joint venture will carry out the works and services required to maintain the safety level and ordinary maintenance of 47 kilometers of road, of which 19.7 kilometers are tunnels. The contract, worth 55,489,223 euros, also consists of the maintenance and 24-hour care of all the software, hardware and communications of the CCVC. The infrastructures to be managed are the Oliana and Montant de Tost tunnels on the C-14, the Bracons (C-37) and Sant Esteve d’en Bas (C-63) tunnels, the Parpers (C-60) and Gran Vía (C-31) tunnels and the Figaró, Montcada i Reixac, and Franqueses (C-17 and C-352) tunnels.
The execution of these works will require a total of 60 people who will have total dedication to the project in a direct way. This team is distributed between the Bracons control center, located on the C-37 road kilometer point 163; the Oliana centers and the CCVC. Additionally, there will be a center in the metropolitan area of Barcelona to support the personnel assigned to the tunnels of the C-31, C-60, C-17 and C-352.
