ROMERO POLO BEGINS THE SECOND PHASE OF THE BARCELONA RAMBLA RENOVATION WORKS
Romero Polo, in a joint venture with Rubau, has started the second phase of the remodeling works of La Rambla in Barcelona. The project is expected to be fully completed by the end of January or early February 2027, according to the current schedule, for a total of 55.6 million euros.
This second phase is included in the new work approach notified in October of this year -when it was announced that the duration of the work would be reduced from 72 to 32 months-, which became longitudinal. Thus, the Besòs side (closest to the Gòtic district) will be remodeled first, with 10 months of work. Subsequently, the Llobregat side will be carried out, with 10 more months; and finally, the central section, with an expected 12 months of work. The works were awarded in two lots to two joint ventures: Romero Polo-Rubau and Dragados-Acsa, which will work simultaneously at different points.
Thus, this first phase, which includes the reform of the Gòtic side up to Canaletes, will begin in June. During these first ten months of works, traffic will be affected and it will only be possible to circulate on the Raval side of La Rambla in an upward direction. In addition, access will be restricted to residents, services, goods and parking. To facilitate mobility, during this period, the City Council will open five crossings that will allow residents, goods and emergency services to access the Gòtic areas (from the lane on the Raval side) and thus cross the central part of La Rambla.
